Women’s coats and body shapes
If you are short
A short- or medium-length coat is perfect for women who aren’t so tall. If the coat is too long, it will end up hiding your figure.
If you are tall
You’re so lucky! You can wear whatever you like: from a short coat to a medium-length one, a ¾-length one or a full length one, so you’re spoilt for choice!
You are of average height
You are also able to wear all of the different types of coats. If you opt for a full-length coat, our tip is to wear a pair of high heels.
If you are slim
Your figure will be most flattered by a cinched coat and a straight-cut coat which is not too baggy.
If you have a V-shaped figure
Are your shoulders wider than your hips? In this case you need to avoid choosing a coat with shoulder pads that widen the shoulders. A cinched coat also suits women who have a clearly defined waistline. To balance out your V-shaped figure, add some bulk to the lower body by opting for a coat with bigger pockets.
If you have an A-shaped figure
Are your hips wider than your shoulders? Try going for a coat with shoulder pads to balance out your figure. Forget about coats with wide or flared pockets, which only tend to add volume to the hip area.
You have an H-shaped figure
Your shoulders are as wide as your hips, and you don’t have a clearly defined waist? Opt for a straight-cut coat. Avoid models with a belt or ones that are cinched at the waist.
If you have an O-shaped figure
Have you got a curvy figure? Opt for a straight-cut coat! This is the ideal model for you, being neither too baggy not too tight. As for those with an H-shaped figure, you need to avoid models that have a belt, or at least ensure that you don’t pull the belt too tightly.
An extra tip: Long and straight-cut models are perfect for women who are curvier and have wider hips as they help to hide your figure if you lack a bit of confidence.
What colour of women’s coat should I choose?
There is no big secret: darker colours are slimming while lighter colours add volume to the figure.
Keep an eye out for any embroidering your coat may have; horizontal lines and a lot of extra details on your coat may also cause your figure to look more bulky as an optical effect.
Among the most popular colours you can opt for (and to be sure you aren’t making a mistake): black, camel, grey, burgundy, khaki, cream, beige…
