How to wear Flared Jeans ?

Flared jeans are the vintage jeans that are coming back into fashion! Their flared cut is very appealing for women who want to achieve a slimming effect as part of a feminine and retro look. But what’s the best way to wear flared jeans? Who can wear them? What looks can you adopt to look stylish? Le Temps des Cerises explains all for you!

What are flared jeans?

Flared jeans are denim trousers that have a cut which widens on the lower leg, although they are fairly close fitting on the thigh. There are several cuts of flared jeans produced by different designers.

As well as being very comfortable, flared jeans also provide a slimming effect as well as a retro and feminine look. The high waist further emphasises the vintage style.

Models of flared jeans

There are plenty of models of flared jeans. Two cuts are particularly fashionable and are very popular with women.

Flares

Flared jeans are the trousers shaped like an elephant’s foot that were a roaring success in the 2000s and prior to that in the 70s. They are just as popular today. They have a slim cut on the thigh, and they widen from the knee downwards.

Bootcut jeans

Flared bootcut jeans have the same cut as flares, close fitting on the thigh and knee. However, they are not as wide on the lower leg. As their name suggests, they are wide enough to cover your boots. Just like flares, these trousers are very enjoyable to wear with their stretch fabric that fits close to the leg without compressing it.

Who can wear flared jeans?

If you are tall

Flared jeans are your best friend if you are tall! Flared jeans are particularly flattering for your figure.

You are fairly short

If you are short, bootcut jeans are perfect for you because they do not shorten or overwhelm your figure. If you opt for flares, wear high heels for their figure-lengthening effect.

You are curvy

Have you got nice curves and a pinched waist? Opt for a high-waisted model of flared jeans! You are sure to look like a sexy pin-up! Bootcut flared jeans are perfect for women who are curvy, just like flares with a high-waisted cut.

You have a V- or H-shaped figure

Flares are made for you! They balance out your figure. For women with an H-style body shape, (your hips are as wide as your shoulders), go for a pair of low-waisted flares.

If you have an A-shaped figure

If you have an A-shaped body type, i.e., your hips are wider than your shoulders, flares are not your best option. If you are a fan of baggy cuts, go for bootcut jeans, which are less flared.

A few looks to help you wear flared jeans with style

Good news: flared jeans go with everything! We still have a few ideas to help you look stylish though.

Total denim look with flared jeans

Flared jeans go perfectly with a denim shirt to create a trendy and vintage feminine look. You can wear them with a pair of high-heeled mules, sunglasses and a nice colourful bag to brighten your look up.

A bohemian look in flares

For a fresh, vintage and casual look, slip on an embroidered blouse to go with your flares. For the shoes, opt for some platform espadrilles, not forgetting your basket-style bag. Round the outfit off with a pair of retro sunglasses.
